Back again

A place is never to good for a revisit. This was my third time here. The Budzluzhda monument was once constructed to honor the events in 1891 that lead into a start to what became the Bulgarian socialist Democratic party. Constructions started in 1974 and was finished in 1981. After socialism and communism fell in the 90s it was abandoned. Very soon the copper roof were lootered and the story goes on……

Second attempt here ended up in a total disaster due to heavy winds and negative degrees…. Everything was or turned to ice as the drone….

The tower from above in heavy fog and icing winds……

So, this is really an icon of eastern brutalism and today people are coming here on their holidays just to get a glimpse of it. When I visited this monument the first time it was easy to get in. Nowdays impossible.

Not only less people, it is also better weather….. 2012

Fragments of mosaic in the surrounding corridor inside the monument.

A look into the auditorium with mosaics allover and a view to how massive this place really is.

The ceiling is really impressive, still pretty intact as I understand.

View from where you can take the stairs up to the monument. The stairs are seen in the back of the torch monument as a 45 degree angel construction.
